Åland UAS welcomes students from Erasmus+ and Nordplus partner institutions to apply for exchange studies at our degree programmes in business administration, marine management, hospitality management, engineering (marine/mechanical, electrical and IT) and health and nursing sciences . In addition to that we also offer clinical placements to our nursing programme partners. Close cooperation and interaction with working life and society is an essential part of our educational philosophy at Åland UAS.

Åland University of Applied Sciences welcomes students from partner universities all around Europe.

Before applying to Åland UAS contact your International Coordinator or Erasmus coordinator at your home institution in order to ensure that there is an Erasmus partnership between our institutions. Your university will then nominate for exchange studies. After that you receive a link for your application in our application system SoleMOVE.
Deadlines
We would like to draw your attention to the fact that the application round for autumn 2025 is open.
The deadline for nominations for the whole academic year and the autumn semester is the 15th of May and the application deadline is the 30th of May 2026.
For the spring semester the deadline for nomination is the 15th of November and the application deadline 1st of December 2026.

Courses at Åland UAS are generally taught in Swedish. In our Course Catalogue you will find all the courses available in English. Your exchange will start with a Swedish for Beginners Course A1 (external course provider Medis) and we also recommend the Intercultural Communication course as a good start to your exchange.

The academic year is divided into two semesters. The autumn semester starts in August and ends in December.
The spring semester starts in early January and ends in early June. The exact dates can differ between the degree programmes and are decided every year in May for the next academic year.

We arrange accommodation for our exchange students in the student lodgings in Mariehamn. In order to be able to accommodate all students it is important that the exchange students send in their applications in time and tick the box for Accommodation needed in the digital application form.

The easiest way to travel to Åland is by plane arriving at Arlanda airport in Stockholm, Sweden. From there you can take a short flight directly to Mariehamn with Populair
You also can travel via Helsinki airport where you can take a direct flight to Mariehamn with Finnair.
Remember to ask for a student discount on the plane tickets. All travel options to and from Åland are listed on the website res.ax
Alternatively, you can take a ferry to the Åland islands (Mariehamn or Långnäs ) from the Finnish mainland (Helsinki and Turku), Sweden (Stockholm, Kapellskär and Grisslehamn) and from Estonia, Tallinn.
